Matches shot on 9th November 2006.
Possibles are like buses, you wait and wait
for one (last week Gary Hooper) then two come at once. Andy Morris, shooting for
Wilmcote, and who has been so close so many times before this season, managed
his first possible, in the match against MEB. John Maycock (Wilmcote) was
another contender shooting 3 bulls, a four and then 3 more bulls. Steve Ray for
RBL also shot his first possible of the season in the match against Binton. Last
week also saw season best shots for Sam Goodman (HG) 32; Gordon Spencer (MEB)
31; Lloyd Dencer (RBL) 34: Mike Yorke (RBL) 32 and John Dencer (RBL) 33.
Avenue Sports & Social Club (ASSC) were at home to Home Guard (HG). There was
some consistent shooting in this match with Jon Packard (ASSC) getting a solid
32 and Fran Westwood (ASSC) shooting 31. Richard Mills shot first for HG and got
his team off to a good start with 32pts. Sam Goodman, the youngest and newest
shooter to the league, deserves a special mention here for his contribution of
32pts to HG's total score of 201pts. Although this is his first season Sam is
proving to be a steady shooter and one to watch for the future. ASSC shot a bit
better than their average last week to total 204pts. This places them in the
middle of the league with 8 points, one above HG.
MEB had trouble mustering shooters, because of ill health, for their match at
Wilmcote. Fred Williams shot 33 for MEB and Andy Morris, first to shoot for
Wilmcote set the standard with his possible. The team went on to beat MEB with
another high score of 227pts against MEB's 207pts. Wilmcote are joint league
leaders with 12pts, having lost only one match this season. Unusually for MEB
they are propping up the league, not having won a single match yet.
RBL who fielded only 6 shooters, put an end to Binton's unbeaten run of 6 league
games without defeat. RBL were on form with a possible from Steve Ray, and
personal bests from brothers Lloyd and John Dencer and Mike Yorke. They ended
the match on 220pts. Binton's performance was lack lustre compared to previous
matches but they still notched up a very respectable 216pts to come second.
Binton are currently joint league leaders on 12 points.
