Webley

Week 8

he competition for the Webley Shield is now more than half way through and Binton B appear to have a firm grip on the top spot despite last week’s poor shooting against MEB. Ken Masters shot a career best of 32 and Chris Green shot 31 but the team had a season low total score of 208 points. MEB had three shooters scoring 31, Rob Dipple, Allan Stewart and Paul Onions but a few loose threes from the rest of the team. However, with seven handicap points in hand they came out winners with 210 points.

Wilmcote had the highest team score again last week with 235 points. Their seven shooters missed only ten bulls between them. Four shooters unluckily missed one bull for 34s and Paul Clingan shot his second possible this season. Avon’s Alison McMillan shot her first possible this season, her ninth career possible and though the team only had two threes on the score card they hit more fours than bulls for a final score of 225.

Clifford got their second highest team score in this competition last week in their match against Binton A. Binton had a solid start with 33s from Chris Reed and Will Cemis and 34 from Andy Smith. Hitting only bulls and fours the team went on to finish on 225 points. Clifford shooters had a fourteen point handicap cushion which together with Rachael Brookes’ season best score of 33 gave them a win by two points.

Avenue only had five shooters for their match against Home Guard. Their nine handicap points disappeared when Gareth Morris started the match off with a season best maximum score, his eighth career possible and Alan Brookes and Andy Morris both shot 33s against the A N Other scores of 28. Avenue managed 215 points in total but Home Guard came out winners with 221.
