ick Williams (Avon) and Andy Smith (Binton A) both shot their 6th possibles of the season which brings their individual averages up to 34 and 33.94 respectively and places them first and second in the table for the Baildham Cup, a trophy awarded to the shooter with the highest average score in both League and Webley League matches.
Avon 225 Avenue 224. Avenue only had five shooters this week and had to rely on both two A N Other scores and handicap points for what turned out to be a close match. Avon were on form with maximum points for Williams, and 34s from Steve Ray and Alison McMillan. Richard Groom shot last for Avon and his score of 30 secured the match for Avon.
Binton B 229 Binton A 225. Binton B had eight shooters who managed to shoot well above the team’s average. Four shooters, Chris Green, Ian Powell, Steve Hodges and Angie Powell all shot 31 and with the handicap points secured two match points to give them top spot in the Webley League. Binton A had only six shooters but they shot consistently well hitting only bulls and fours. Smith’s maximum points and 34 from Collin Hayes topped the teams scores.
Wilmcote 230 Home Guard 233. This match saw the highest scores from teams this week. Both teams hit only bulls and fours with Wilmcote shooters Jamie Clarke and Paul Clingan missing only one bull for 34s and Adam Clarke, Graham East and Lester Langford missing two bulls each for scores of 33. Home Guard’s Andy Morris also missed one bull for 34 and Alan Brookes two bull for 33. It was the handicap points which won the match for Home Guard.
MEB forfeited their match against Clifford as they did not have enough shooters.
