Webley

Week 3

EB 218 Avenue 219. This proved to be a close match with new MEB shooters Rob Dipple and Steph Ford both shooting personal and season best scores of 33 and 31. Avenue had a couple of loose threes but on the whole shot well including James Wilby who shot a season best of 34 just missing one bull and 33 from Alan Crichton. The final result was dependent upon how well the last shooters did. Steve Garlick who had not shot since before Christmas was outstanding with his open sighted rifle missing only one bull for yet another season best score in this match 34 which gave Avenue a chance of winning. MEB’s Paul Onions needed 34 to win the match but with three bulls shot 32 and the match was Avenue’s by one point. This moved Avenue up to top the Webley Table.

Avon 227 Binton B 232. Both teams had eight shooters and had to drop their lowest score. This was more of a problem for Avon as they were the more accurate team. Nick Williams did not miss a bull and shot his fifth possible to give Avon an early lead which with a personal and season best of 34 from Karl McMillan and 34 from Alison McMillan ensured a good overall score. Binton’s early shooters kept out of the threes but with not enough bulls on the scoreboard it was the seventeen handicap points which saved them from defeat at the final tally.

Binton A 226 Wilmcote 219. The Wilmcote team were not on their best form and with only six shooters were decided losers despite 34s from Lester Langford and Jamie Clarke. Binton started with a possible for Chris Reed, his third this season and with solid scores of 33 from Andy Smith and Collin Hayes went on to win the match though they too had only six shooters.

Home Guard 212 Clifford 207. Jay Morris got Clifford off to a good start with 33 and though the rest of the team kept their shots tight the bull proved difficult to hit and the team ended on their lowest score this season. Home Guard had less trouble finding the bull and 32 from Gareth Morris and 33 from Andy Morris secured the team’s victory though they gave four handicap points away.
