Webley
Week 6
inton B consolidated their position at the top of the Webley Table with their sixth win in as many weeks. They had a full side against only five Clifford shooters and a five point handicap which they did not need for their 220 point win. Top scores came from Binton’s Joe Powell 33, a personal best, and Clifford’s Jay Morris 32.
MEB had the highest team score last week with 240 points though this did include a 26 point handicap from Binton A. Stalwart of the team, Derek Powers shot a personal and career best score of 34 and Rob Dipple equalled his best shot with 33. Binton started faultlessly with both Chris Reed and Andy Smith getting possibles. Despite this and with only bulls and fours including 33s from John Parrott and Michelle Dale from Binton’s other four shooters the handicap gave MEB a clear win.
Avenue and Wilmcote were also short of shooters. Avenue’s impressive team score of 231 from five shooters, included the cushion of a 23 point handicap for which they were grateful. Alan Crichton was on form shooting 34 and James Wilby shot 32. Wilmcote’s six shooters did well with 34s from Jamie Clarke and Paul Clingan and 33s from Lester Langford, Graham East and Adam Clarke but Avenue won through in the end thanks to the handicap, to retain their second place slot in the Webley Table.
Avon had eight shooters for their match against Home Guard which started at a cracking pace with the visitors taking an early lead when Andy Morris famed for his 34s went one better to shoot his fourth possible this season. However the match slipped away from them as the match progressed. Home Guard had only five shooters and the two A N Other scores were not of much help when the more experienced Avon shooters proved to be more accurate than the rest of the visiting team. They rang the bell more frequently to include scores of 34 from Nick Williams and Alison McMillan. At the final accounting Avon had a comfortable win.
