League

Week 5

lifford 208 Wilmcote 239. Wilmcote had a wonderful night’s shooting at Clifford last Thursday, when they shot an amazing 239 points, only 6 bulls short of a perfect score. The score equalled Wilmcote’s best ever performance which was just about 12 months ago. The all time league record is 242 points which was shot in February 1981 in a match between Home Guard A and Bearley A. To add to Wilmcote's achievement, five of their shooters got maximum points - brothers Ashleigh and Jamie Clarke, Graham East, Lester Langford and Sammy Skye Unitt scored possibles. Clifford shooters Ian Perkins and Ben Withers both shot 32s but the team were no match for Wilmcote.

Binton A 235 Avon 223. The bell on Binton’s target was ringing out loud and clear too with both teams keeping their shots tight with the home team shooting mainly bulls. Andy Smith shot his second consecutive possible and Chris Reed, John Parrott and Michelle Dale were each just one bull short of possibles. Avon’s Bill Fleming also missed one bull for 34 points but the team just could not find the bull as regularly as Binton and Avon shooting mainly fours had to make do with second place in this match.

MEB 199 Home Guard 225. Home Guard took an early lead and kept pressing their advantage with scores of 34 from Tom Morris and 32s from Gareth Morris, Alan Brookes and Sherri Anne Pegg. Andy Morris finished the match with his first possible of the season. MEB struggled from the start and with the exception of Paul Onions who kept out of the threes for 32 points had too many loose shots to pose any real threat to the visitors.

Avenue 206 Binton B 213. Chris Green 33 and Steve Hodges 34 got Binton off to a strong start. Avenue kept in touch with the match and with 32 from Alan Crichton and 33 from James Wilby they pulled back points to be only one behind. However, Benn Chamberlain and Tom Gosbell sealed Avenue’s fate when they shot 31 and 30 respectively and Avenue had to be satisfied with an A N Other score which did not come close.
