NTER LEAGUE... Team Stratford continued their good run in Inter-League competitions by winning against both Evesham and Redditch in their second leg matches. By winning all four Inter-League matches this season, Stratford also win the "SER" League.

 

Evesham visited Wilmcote Club on 22 January for the second leg of the Avon Challenge where Stratford carried forward a 3 shot lead. Adie Lewis (Evesham) shot another sublime possible to match her first leg effort, thereby securing the Bill Amos Cup for another year. Stratford shot consistently throughout, beating Evesham on the night by 6 shots, which included a first career possible for Collin Hayes. Overall, Team Stratford won by 9 shots, and secured the Avon Challenge trophy for a 5th consecutive season.

 

Team Stratford travelled to Studley on 25th January with a 7 shot lead after the first leg. Again the shooting from league representatives was very consistent which resulted with a win on the night by 7 shots to give an aggregate win of 14 shots. Andy Smith was Stratford’s top scorer with a maximum score of 30, Rob Dyer and Iain Marshall of Redditch also achieved scores of 30.

 

 

ENIOR SHIELD COMPETITION... This took place on the 9th January at Binton Social Club. Eight shooters took part in the competition where the combined scores from two targets determined the winner. Bill Fleming was victorious with a score of 48.4, John Maycock was the runner up with a score of 46.3.

 

 

 

EBLEY SHIELD... Last week’s match between Avenue and Binton B should have been a battle for the top of the League but with only five shooters available for Avenue and Binton shooters on target Avenue’s hopes faded as the match progressed despite James Wilby’s season best score of 34. Binton now sit firmly at the top having won every match with 10 points and Avenue have to make do with second place and six points from their matches.

 

Binton A were also short of shooters in their match against Avon. Andy Smith shot a possible for the home team but Binton had to give two handicap points to Avon who gained another twelve points against A N Other scores. Avon ended on 233 points which included Karl McMillan’s 35, his first career possible.

 

The match between Clifford and Wilmcote ended in a draw with both teams scoring 233 points though Clifford’s final scoreline included a seventeen point handicap from Wilmcote. Lester Langford was top scorer in this match with maximum points for the second time this season.

 

In the match between MEB and Home Guard both teams had some loose threes but with a cushion of sixteen handicap points MEB came out winners with 221 to 218 points including Trevor Batchelor’s personal best score. Tom and Andy Morris were unlucky missing one bull for scores of 34.
