ast week saw another round of close matches. MEB vs Binton B. Perseverance paid off at last for MEB who with six shooters and an A N Other score won their first match this season against Binton B. Though Binton started well with scores of 32 from Chris Green and Steve Hodges they tailed off until their last shooter Angie Powell who shot 31 came to the mark to pull the fat out of the fire. MEB struggled at first but with 30 from Derek Powers and 33 from Paul Onions and eight handicap points at the final tally they won the match with 211 points just one more than Binton.

Avon vs Home Guard. Home Guard both started and ended well with 33 from Gareth Morris, new shooter Rachel Sabin and Alan Brookes. Andy Morris shot a possible to bring his team to a final score of 224 points. Avon with just two points in hand also started well with 34 from Bill Fleming, 31 from Chris Green and Sam Green’s 33. Shooting only fours and bulls their final three shooters Richard Groom, Alison McMillan and Steve Ray with 32, 34 and 33 respectively brought the total to 228 points, to give the home team a four point win.

Binton A vs Wilmcote. The visitors with only bulls and fours on the score card racked up a top score this week of 233 points which included Jamie Clarke’s fiftieth career possible and 34s from Ashley Clarke, Lester Langford and Andrew Clingan. Binton also shot bulls and fours including 33s from Andy Smith, Michelle Dale and Will Cemis but they hit fewer bulls than Wilmcote to finish on 232 points.

Clifford vs Avenue. Clifford had four points off Avenue but they steadily plugged away to claw them back. With a strong start which included Alan Crichton 34 and finish from Richard Mills 32, Steve Garlick 32 and Steve Parrack 32 Avenue finished with 217 points. Clifford’s Ian Perkins shot 33, Trevor Morris 32 and Ben Withers 31 but the rest of the team seemed to have more difficulty than usual in hitting the bull. After adding in the handicap they finished on 212 points.
