Clifford shot well with 32s from Matt Carvell, Ian Perkins and Jay Morris and 31s from Trevor Morris, Ben Withers and Martin Robinson to leave Avenue trailing by five points at the half way point. However they made a great come back with 34 from Alan Crichton and a fourth possible this season from Steve Parrack which brought the scores level. Dee Green had an opportunity to win the match for Avenue if she could better Richard Mills’ score. She started well with a four and two bulls but threw it away with two loose threes followed by another four. So it came down to the last pellet of the match. Needing a four to win the match she rang the bell to get a bull and was declared “man” of the match bringing Avenue to victory with a total of 220 to Clifford’s 218 points.

Binton B vs MEB. Two of Binton’s shooters equalled their personal best scores of 33 and Steve Hodges hit 32 in their win over MEB. Paul Onions 33 and Marc Anderton kept out of the threes but with loose threes the other team members had to settle for low scores.

Home Guard vs Avon. The visiting team shot only fours and bulls with Alison McMillan hitting six bulls for a score of 34 and Steve Ray getting five for 33 points. Yet the team came off second best for despite some loose threes from Home Guard’s new shooters their stalwarts, the Morris family and Alan Brookes saw them through to a win by two points. Brothers Gareth and Tom Morris shot 34s, father Andy 33 and Alan Brookes 32. The teams finished Home Guard 219 Avon 217.

Wilmcote vs Binton A. Both teams were on form hitting only bulls and fours. Jamie Clarke was the only shooter to achieve maximum points and Adam Clarke, Graham East and Paul Clingan only missed one bull for 34s. Binton’s Andy Smith and Will Cemis also missed one bull for 34s and Chris Reed shot 33. Binton gave Wilmcote a tough match and were unlucky to come second with the final score Wilmcote 227 Binton 225 points.
