Webley

Week 10

eams have now played ten of the fourteen matches in the Webley Shield handicap competition and three teams, Avon, Binton A and Wilmcote are all sitting at the top of the table, having thirteen points each and still have it all to play for.

Avon 219 Clifford 216. Despite a season best shot of 34 for Clifford’s Matt Carvell and four handicap points some loose threes on both sides resulted in Avon winning this match with 33s from Richard Groom and Alison McMillan and 34 from Steve Ray.

Binton B 239 Wilmcote 234. Wilmcote kept their eye on the bull for good scores from all team members. Adam Clarke shot maximum points; Lester Langford and Paul Clingan missed one bull for 34s and three shooters scored 33s. Binton had a few loose threes but they too shot well with 33s from Joe Powell, Steve Hodges and Ben Chamberlain with the handicap points they won the match with the highest team score last week.

Home Guard 226 Binton A 224. Both teams fielded eight shooters with Binton getting off to the better start slowly pulling back the five handicap points given to Home Guard. Binton’s total of 224 points included four 33s from Chris Reed, Andy Smith, Gary Hooper and Michelle Dale. This put the pressure on Home Guard’s final shooter, Andy Morris who clinched the match when he shot his third possible this season to bring his team a two point victory.

MEB 205 Avenue 207. Alan Crichton topped the scorecard in this match with 34 followed by Steve Garlick who shot 32. All other shooters found the target too tight for very high scores. With two A N Other scores and eighteen handicap points MEB just missed out on winning this one.
