or the third week running Wilmcote shooters hit the highest team score and for the third week running Jamie Clarke shot maximum points.
Wilmcote vs Binton B. Binton started well with 32 from Chris Green and 31 from Tom Gosbell but Wilmcote applied pressure with 33s from Adam Clarke and Graham East and 32s from John Maycock and Lester Langford. Jamie Clarke’s possible sealed the fate of the visitors when the scores were totalled up Wilmcote 226 Binton B 205.
Clifford vs Avon. Bill Fleming shot five bulls then his sixth pellet went into the four but the last one found the bell for 34 points. Alison McMillan shot only bulls and fours for 33. Avon had just two threes and only six shooters but with an A N Other score they had 217 points. Clifford’s first three shooters Trevor Morris, Jay Morris and Ian Perkins all kept out of the threes for scores of 31, 31 and 33 but then the team seemed to lose focus and with several loose threes they finished on 204 points.
Binton A vs Home Guard. This proved to be a close match with both teams fielding two inexperienced shooters. Guard’s top shot was Andy Morris, famed for his scores of 34. Tom Morris and Alan Brookes both shot 32s. Binton’s Will Cemis hit his first possible this season and Andy Smith shot just one four for 34 points. Both teams had eight shooters and had to drop their lowest score. The final score line was Binton 215 Home Guard 213 points.
Avenue vs MEB. Both teams got off to a ropey start with some loose threes. MEB’s Derek Powers and Paul Onions both kept out of the threes with Onions just missing out on a possible when his last shot hit the four. With two A N Other scores MEB finished on 194 points. Avenue’s James Wilby shot a solid 32 and Steve Garlick who has dusted off his old Webley Mk3 rifle to shoot this season, went one better for 33. Steve Parrack fired off six pellets hitting the bull every time seemingly without any difficulty but he hesitated with his seventh taking his time to hit seven bulls for maximum points. Avenue won the match with 210 points.
Matches this week Binton B vs Binton A; Home Guard vs Clifford; MEB vs Wilmcote and the match between Avon and Avenue has been postponed.
