& Triple 6 Trophy

 

 

ilmcote hosted the competition for the Norman Dale Cup last week. A competition limited to shooters with a League average score of 30 or below from at least 2 matches. In the first round it was the shooters who hit threes that were eliminated. Richard Mills secured his place in the final having defeated Marc Anderton and Derek Powers. Ian Powell had a bye into the semi final where he got one bull more than Sam Green for his place. With seven shots and clean bulls counting as 5.1 points. Ian Powell shot just one bull and six fours for a final score of 29 points. Richard Mills had a poor start with a loose three but came back with a clean bull and two fours followed by another clean bull and two more fours for a final score of 29.2 points to win the trophy, his first competition win since he began shooting 1982.

 

The Triple 6 competition, is a three-way inter-league match between Stratford, Redditch and Evesham leagues. Each team comprises six shooters aiming at paper targets comprising of eight target diagrams six metres distant. The two middle targets are used for sighter shots with the scores on the top three and bottom three targets counting for the competition. A clean bull counts as six points. It was a close match with Evesham in third place with 177 points. Stratford and Evesham both ended on 184 points. Stratford hit thirteen clean bulls whereas Evesham hit only eleven and were awarded the match retaining the trophy. Top shot though was Evesham’s Ian Marshall who scored 35 points out of a possible 36.
