Week 6
ilmcote vs Clifford. Wilmcote did it again winning this match 228 to Clifford’s 210 points but it was without the superb marksmanship they demonstrated last week. There were no possibles in this match, the highest individual score was 34 from Jamie Clarke. Clifford’s Ian Perkins also scored 34 which was a season and personal best.
Avenue vs Binton A. Binton fielded six shooters and took an early lead when Andy Smith their second shooter shot his third possible of the season. Michelle Dale and Will Cemis both shot 33 pressing Binton’s advantage to give them a lead of five points after four shooters. Alan Dyer went on to shoot a season best of 32 but John Parrott was frustrated with his score of 28, though he kept his shots tight the bell just would not ring for him - frustrating. With an A N Other score of 28 Binton finished on 218 points. The home team shot well with solid 33s from Alan Crichton, James Wilby and Steve Parrack. Steve Everett and Jo Everett both did well with 30 and 31 respectively, their best scores in two seasons. The final result rested with Avenue’s last man, Steve Garlick who needed 29 to draw the match. Garlick’s trusty Webley Mark III did not let him down scoring 31, Avenue won the match with 220 points, their best team score this season.
Home Guard vs MEB. Not surprisingly Home Guard won this match but MEB battled on still short of shooters. Derek Powers shot a season best of 32 and Paul Onions 31. With two A N Other scores they finished on 199 points. Home Guard’s Tom Morris led the scoring for his team with 33. Tim Stevens and Andy Morris shot 32s and with no scoring threes on the target and with 216 points Home Guard won the match.
Binton B vs Avon. Both teams had six shooters and needed an A N Other score of 28. Benn Chamberlain shooting 34, a season best, took Binton into the lead but 32s from Bill Fleming and Richard Groom swung the pendulum back in Avon’s favour putting the home team one point behind. Steve Ray managed four bulls for a score of 32 which put Steve Hodges under pressure. It did not help when he started with a three and with only one bull and 28 points Avon came out winners 214 points to Binton’s 209.
