League

Week 14

The League Competition for the L C Docker Cup ended last week with wins for the four top teams.

Wilmcote 226 Avenue 218. Wilmcote maintained their unbeaten season with a clear win which included 34s from Adam Clarke, Lester Langford and Andrew Clingan. However the applause went to Avenue’s Steve Garlick who shot 34 with his open sighted gun – a much more difficult achievement. He is the only shooter in the league who uses this type of no frills rifle. Alan Crichton who with his last pellet was the only shooter that week to get maximum points, his second possible this season, was also applauded. Wilmcote finished the season with 28 points from 14 games and a team average of 230.21 to win the cup for the third successive year.

Binton A 229 Clifford 215. Binton had the highest team score this week including a season best 33 for Neil Beningfield and 34s from Andy Smith, Michelle Dale and Will Cemis. Clifford topped and tailed their shooting with 33 from Trevor Morris and Ben Withers. Binton came second in the league with 20 points and a team average of 222.43 points.

Home Guard 220 Binton B 207. Guards comfortably won this match with Tom Morris missing the bull with his first pellet and Andy Morris missing with his last pellet for 34 each. Binton have had a consistent season and will be well placed for the Webley Handicap challenge. Their top scorer was Steve Hodges with 32. Guards also had 20 league points from their matches but with a lower average 217.07 they came third in the league.

Avon 219 MEB 193. The visitors had to take two A N Other scores but with a number of loose threes on the board they shot below average. Avon also had a couple of loose threes but were better at hitting the bull to pull their scoring up including a 33 from Bill Fleming. Avon had 15 points from their matches, the same as Avenue but with a slightly better average 214.85 they finished fourth in the league.

The competition for the Webley Shield starts on Thursday 15 December and team handicaps can be found on our website www.sagl.co.uk.
