Inter League &

League Week 12

his inter league match got off to a good start with a possible from Adie Lewis (Evesham) and Colin Fulford (Stratford) but the Evesham team kept their shots tighter than Stratford hitting only bulls and fours. The Stratford representatives found the extra yard more challenging and had two loose threes on the score card and more fours than bulls. Evesham won the leg by three points. If Stratford want to keep the trophy they have held for the past two years they will need to do better when they shoot the next leg on their home target.

MEB were at home to Clifford last week and both teams had six shooters. Paul Onions was top shot with 32 and Ray Hodgkins shot 31. Marc Anderton rejoined the league shooting 29. Clifford’s shooters did not do as well as the home team. Both teams needed the A N Other score of 28 to make up the numbers and MEB won their first match this season 206 to 202 points.

Avon were on form when they beat Binton A 228 to 223 points. Alison McMillan shot her second possible in two weeks to bring her tally to four this season. Colin Fulford shot his first possible in a league match this season and Richard Groom was unlucky not to have achieved a possible when he missed one bull. Binton scored well but not quite good enough to win. Will Cemis started with a four but six bulls gave him 34. Chris Reed and Wayne Harris acquitted themselves well both shooting 33s.

Home Guard shot only bulls and fours in their match against Avenue. Andy Morris came close to a possible with 34 and Tim Stephens and Tom Morris both shot 33. Avenue started well enough including 33s from James Wilby and Alan Crichton to give them a one point lead after three shooters but more consistent shooting from Home Guard saw the points swing in their direction. Steve Parrack shot 35, his first possible this season and Paul Lowe shot 34 but despite their efforts a win was out of reach. The final score Home Guard 224 Avenue 218.

Matches this week Avenue vs Binton B; Binton A vs MEB; Clifford vs Avon and Wilmcote vs Home Guard.
