tudley Sports & Social Club - The Entaco – hosted the second leg of the inter league match between Redditch and Stratford Air Gun Leagues. Teams shot under Redditch rules which differ from Stratford in that there were ten shooters in each team, each having 5 shots, and one sighter. The match was shot five in-five out, with Stratford's first five shooters going first, followed by Redditch's first five, then Stratford's remaining five shooters before Redditch's last five shooters finished off the match. Additionally, Redditch imposed a time limit for each shooter which allowed eight minutes starting from the moment the shooter arrived at the shooting table.
Stratford went into the match with a three point lead which they built on with Jamie Clarke shooting maximum points - 25, Andy Smith missing just one bull for 24 and three other shooters including Alan Crichton shooting in his debut match as a league representative getting 23s. Redditch shooters failed to shoot as well as they did in the first leg and half way through the match Stratford were eleven points ahead. Stratford went from strength to strength with Alison McMillan and Will Cemis getting 24s. Last minute substitutes Bill Fleming and Sammy Skye Unitt did well especially as Sammy also in her debut match, as she had to borrow a left handed rifle.
The match finished with a very comfortable win for Stratford with 232 points to Redditch 218. Overall Stratford won the competition by 17 points.
Tonight’s (Thursday) matches see Avenue vs Home Guard; Avon vs Wilmcote; Binton B vs Clifford and MEB vs Binton A.
On Monday 25 January the second leg of the inter league match for the Avon Challenge Trophy will take place at Wilmcote Social Club against Evesham.
