Week 5
ome Guard v Clifford – Clifford were put under pressure throughout this match in which Guard’s first and last shooters Gareth Morris and his father Andy Morris topped and tailed the score card with possibles. Tom Morris just missed out when his last pellet hit the four for 34 points. With solid shooting from the rest of the team, a final score of 229 gave them a clear victory over the visitors. Clifford had too many loose threes for high scores with only two shooters staying out of the threes Trevor Morris 31 and Jay Morris 30. Including the handicap of 16 points Clifford finished on 222 points.
Binton A v Avon – Bill Fleming shot a career best when he scored maximum points and got his first possible for Avon, getting the match off to a great start. Chris Adams and Alison McMillan both shot 33 and Karl McMillan and Richard Groom 32. With only six shooters the team took an A N Other score of 28 to finish on 220 points. Binton, also with six shooters kept pace with another possible for Andy Smith, his tenth this season in league matches and 33s for Gary Hooper and Will Cemis. They too finished on 220 points but with a handicap of 7 points from Binton Avon came out winners with 227 at the final tally.
Avenue v Binton B – Avenue gave five handicap points to Binton and started pulling these back with consistent shooting from James Wilby, Steve Garlick and Peter Mole who all shot 31s. Disaster struck with a poor performance from Jo Everett but Steve Parrack pulled the fat out of the fire for Avenue when he shot his second possible this season and Paul Lowe consolidated the position with 32 to give the team 214 points. Benn Chamberlain led his team’s scoring with 33 and with consistent 30s from three of Binton’s shooters the match seemed safe for the home team. Angie Powell who has not shot for several months took her place at the target. Shooting a season best of 31 she drew the match for Binton who also scored 214 points.
MEB v Wilmcote – Results awaited for this match.
