Webley 6

von vs Avenue - This match did not start well for either side but accuracy improved when Alan Crichton and Paul Lowe for Avenue shot 33 and 34 respectively and Avon’s Colin Fulford shot 32. Steve Parrack had an off night as did Steve Ray but the final shooters for both sides, Alison McMillan and Steve Garlick, finished on respectable scores of 32. The final score was Avon 214 Avenue 216 which included six handicap points but it has to be said that overall, neither team made full use of the bell. However, Avenue now move into second place in the Webley Shield Competition.

Binton B vs MEB - Ignoring the six handicap points from Binton B, this was a close match in which Binton’s Steve Hodges and MEB’s Paul Onions shot season best scores of 33 and 34 respectively. Both teams had a few loose threes to finish on 210 and 209 so the handicap points were needed to give MEB a win by one just point which places them third in the Webley competition.

Clifford vs Binton A - Binton A had an uphill struggle having to give Clifford eighteen handicap points but they fought a good fight with Andy Smith getting his eleventh possible in this season’s league matches and Michelle Dale her second. Will Cemis started with a four but unperturbed went on to shoot six bulls for a solid 34 points. Clifford’s Trevor Morris started well for the team with a season best of 33 and Rachael Brookes shot 32 but despite some loose threes Clifford came out winners with a final score of 231 to Binton’s 229 points.

Wilmcote vs Home Guard - Wilmcote gave four handicap points to Home Guard but they shot well to get them all back plus one. Adam and Ashleigh Clarke, Lester Langford and Andrew Clingan all just missed out on possibles with 34 points, marksmanship which they have acquired with regular practice sessions held at Wilmcote Club which are open to everyone. Home Guard were unlucky not to squeeze a win from this match. Tom Morris shot his second possible this season, Gareth and Andy Morris both shot 34 but with six shooters, they lost by just one point and an A N Other score of 28 to finish with scores of 228 to 227 points. Wilmcote stay at the top of the table with 10 points from six matches.
