League Week 13

lison McMillan and Colin Fulford did the double once again this week both shooting a possible for the second week in succession which helped their team, Avon, to a comfortable win against Clifford. Trevor Morris shot 33 and Ian Perkins 32 for the home team but with some loose shots and an A N Other score of 28 Clifford were never any real threat. The final score Clifford 208 Avon 218.

Wilmcote again had the highest score this week when they shot against Home Guard. They took an early lead with 34 from Adam Clarke and 35 from brother Jamie, his seventh in this season’s league matches. John Maycock shot 32 and the other team members 33, including a personal best for Ashleigh Clarke. Such solid shooting survived a late attach from Snitterfield when Tom Morris and Alan Brookes both just missed out on possibles with 34 and Andy Morris shot his fourth possible this season. Having to take an A N Other score of only 28 didn’t help their chances either. Wilmcote won 233 to 225 points.

Binton A had six shooters and MEB only five when they met. Andy Smith and Will Cemis both shot 34s and had the highest scores in the match. However Derek Powers shot a seasonal best of 32. Father and son Paul and Tim Onions shot 31s. Binton won with 216 points, their lowest winning score this season, to MEB’s 206.

Avenue went into the lead against Binton B when Alan Crichton shot a personal best of 34 but they saw the lead vanish with a poor performance from Jo Everett who struggled with a loaned gun. Steve Parrack’s 33 brought the points back to the home team and a possible from Paul Lowe took Avenue three in front. Steve Garlick and Peter Mole brought the total to 214 points. Binton only had six shooters with Steve Hodges scoring 33 and an A N Other score they finished with 202 points.

The final matches in the league take place tonight (Thurs) Avon vs Wilmcote; Binton B vs Clifford; Home Guard vs Binton A and MEB vs Avenue.

The Christmas Shoot will take place at Wilmcote on Thursday 17 December.
