shot exceptionally well in their match at Snitterfield. Jamie Clarke on top
form, shot his third possible and Paul Clingan his second in just four matches
this season. Andrea Norris and Adam Clarke both shot 33. Shooting 33 bulls out
of a possible 49 the team were clear winners with 229 points. Snitterfield’s
Andy Morris shot 34 and Lyn Brookes showed both concentration and determination
when after her first pellet went into the three she put it out of her mind and
went on to shoot six bulls to score 33. The team finished on 218 points which
would have won them most matches but not last Thursday.
MEB were at home to Avenue B. Both teams lifted their game to get their highest
scores so far this season. Fred Williams shot 33 and three shooters all shot 30.
After disregarding the lowest of eight scores MEB finished on 207 points. Avenue
B’s Richard Mills shot 33, Haydn Taplin 32 and Chris Adams 31. With fewer threes
on the target and after taking the highest seven of their eight scores, Avenue
came out winners with 213 points.
Binton B travelled to Clifford for what turned out to be a close match. Clifford
shooter Martin Robinson shot 32 and Dave Sibley 31. With only four loose threes
the team scored 205 points. Joe Powell and Steve Hodges both shot 32 for Binton
and Chris Green 31 but with eight threes on the target the match was lost by
just three points.
Avenue A were at home to Avon, winners of the league last year. The match was
close with Avenue in the lead by just one point after three shooters thanks to a
34 from Paul Lowe and a 33 from Paul Nixon Barron. However, Avon’s rear guard
action was stronger with Bill Fleming’s 33 and Steve Ray’s 32. Avenue drifted
behind in the second half of the match to finish on 206 points to Avon’s 217.
Matches this week see Avenue B v Snitterfield; Avon v MEB; Binton A v Clifford
and Wilmcote v Avenue A with Binton B having a bye.
