continued their winning streak with a win against Avon last week. Surprisingly,
they had two scoring threes included in their total but with 34s from Jamie
Clarke and Paul Clingan and a season best shot of 33 from John Maycock they came
out winners with 223 points. Avon also had two scoring threes from new shooter
Ross Anderson but he finished on a respectable 27. Bill Fleming shot a season
best of 34 when his sixth pellet failed to hit the bull and Colin Fulford shot
his first possible of the season. With eight shooters Avon had to scratch their
lowest score and ended on 218 points.Snitterfield and Binton A shot a close match. Gareth Morris unluckily, just missed out on his first possible this season when his last pellet just failed to ring the bell. Tom Morris, Alan Brookes and Andy Morris all shot 33 and the teams total from eight shooters was 252 points. Binton’s Andy Smith came close to a possible but unfortunately scored 34 when his sixth pellet failed to hit the bull. They also had three shooters scoring 33, Chris Reed, Michelle Dale and Will Cemis. Their team of eight shot an impressive total of 254 points but as only the seven highest scores count in a match both teams had to drop their lowest score. For Snitterfield this was 27 but Binton dropped 29 so the match ended in a draw both teams being left with 225 points.
Binton B fielded eight shooters including new shooter Tom Gosbell for their match against MEB who had seven shooters. On the whole the team kept their shots tight with team captain Ben Chamberlain getting a season best score of 32. Angie Powell and Steve Hodges both shot respectable 31s. The team shot a total of 239 points but having eight shooters they had to lose their lowest score of 28 and finished on 211 points. MEB’s Kath Williams was their best shot with a season best of 33. Dave Beasley and Fred Williams shot steady 31s and the team finished on 212 points to give them their first win of the season.
Avenue B shot without their team captain Jackie Mills but they are providing valuable match experience to three new shooters this season, Ian Bridge, Jordan Bridge and Aaron Taplin. Stalwart of the team Richard Mills shot solid fours for 28, Chris Adams shot 29 and Haydn Taplin shot 30. Their other shooters had too many loose shots for high scores and after dropping the lowest of their eight scores they finished on 190 points. Clifford had only three threes on the target. Their captain Rachael Brookes had a career and season best shot of 33. Ian Perkins and Jay Morris both shot respectable 31s. Their seven shooters won the match with 208 points.
