ine representatives of the Stratford League went with nine points in hand to Wilmcote to meet what turned out to be a small contingent from the Redditch League of only five shooters. It was agreed that everyone would shoot seven pellets but only the top five scores would count on both sides. Redditch shooters scored 164 points which included 34 from Iain Marshall. Stratford’s top shots were Jamie Clarke and Andy Morris who both shot possibles, Andy Smith and Will Cemis 34s and 33 which was scored by three shooters to win the competition with 171 points. Over the two legs the final score was Stratford 384 Redditch 368 points.

 

Wilmcote won the League with a clean sweep winning all sixteen of their matches. Having shot consistently well all season with some of the highest match scores in recent years. They ended the season with possibles from Adam and Jamie Clarke and Paul Clingan to give the team their second highest score all season of 235 points. Binton A scores included 34 from Andy Smith, Michelle Dale and Will Cemis but lost the match with 232 points.

 

Snitterfield’s team captain, Andy Morris also shot a possible and 34s from Alan Brookes and Tom Morris led the way to a win over MEB whose final score of 222 included 34 from Dave Beasley and 33, season best shots, from Kath Williams and Derek Powers.

 

Binton B were at home to Avon and both teams had eight shooters. Top shot in this match was Alison McMillan with 34. Both teams had a few loose shots but Avon came out winners with 220 to 212 points after each team dropped the lowest of it eight scores.

 

The two teams based at Avenue met with the B team having eight shooters. Richard Mills shot 31 points but his team mates had too many loose shots for high scores. The A team lived up to their name on the night with Steve Parrack and Paul Lowe both shooting 34s which secured a win with 211 points.

 

The competition for the Webley Shield starts on 5 February.
