Inter League Matches
& League Week 12
he
Stratford & District Air Gun League was represented by nine shooters who
travelled to the Entaco Sports and Social Club in Redditch on 20 November for an
inter league match against Redditch. Shooters only had five shots at the target
making 25 the highest possible score. Iain Marshall and Graham Whittingham both
shot 25 for the home team and Rob Dyer missed only one bull for 24 points. Andy
Smith got Stratford off to a flying start with maximum points. Andy Morris also
shot 25. The team were more consistent than Redditch with five shooters Jamie
Clarke, Gareth Morris, Graham East, Adam Clarke and Will Cemis all shooting 24s.
Stratford lead by nine points after the first leg, winning the match with 213
points to Redditch’s 204.
On Monday 24 November the Stratford League took part in another inter league
match against the Evesham League for the Avon Challenge Cup which is currently
held by Stratford. Both teams reached a very high standard but Stratford were
the more consistent with possibles from seven shots gained by Andy Smith, Paul
Clingan and Will Cemis. Colin Fulford and Jamie Clarke both shot 34 and Andy
Morris and Michelle Dale both shot 33. Evesham’s Amy Lewis and Adie Lewis both
shot possibles and John Richards shot 34 but when the scores were tallied up,
Stratford had 271 which put them seven points ahead as they go into the second
leg which will take place next year.
Last Thursday in the twelfth week of the eighteen week season Wilmcote did it
again shooting 231 points in their match against MEB. Still top of the League
with maximum points from their matches, they seem unbeatable with very
consistent shooting scoring only bulls and fours. The Clarke brothers Jamie and
Adam both shot 34, and four shooters scored 33. MEB only had six shooters,
though Paul Onions and Fred Williams both shot 32 the team never had a real
chance of success.
Binton A were at home to Avon. Andy Smith was top shot hitting his fifth
possible in league matches. Michelle Dale missed just one bull for 34 and Gary
Hooper and Wayne Harris both shot 33 which was a personal best for Harris. Avon
introduced a new shooter to their team Mark Walster who did very well shooting
33 which was matched by Colin Fulford. Both teams had eight shooters and after
disregarding the lowest score the final result was Binton A 229 Avon 219.
The second Binton team were away shooting against Snitterfield. The home team
took an early lead but were pressed by Binton shooters who kept their shots
tight save for one scoring three to Snitterfield’s three. In the final event it
was the more experienced shooters in the Snitterfield team who won through with
216 points to Binton’s 210.
Avenue A missed two of their experienced shooters and fielded a new shooter who
struggled with the unfamiliar. Steve Parrack shot 33 and he together with Ben
Withers from Clifford had the highest scores in the match. Avenue shot
consistent 29s but Clifford shooters did rather better with Ian Perkins shooting
32 and Roy Brookes 31. Clifford came out winners with 211 points.
Matches tonight (Thurs) Avenue B vs MEB; Avon vs Avenue A; Binton B vs Clifford
and Wilmcote vs Snitterfield. Binton A have a bye.
