Week 3

he two teams based at Wilmcote met last week with MEB being the home team. Wilmcote proved to be a force to be reckoned with when both Jamie Clarke and Paul Clingan shot possibles. Andrea Norris, Adam Clarke and Graham East all shot 34s. With only two counting threes on the scoreboard Wilmcote finished on 230 points. MEB’s highest shot was 34 from Paul Onions followed by a 33 from Kath Williams but with a number of loose shots the team scored 204 points. Wilmcote now top the League with 6 points from 3 matches and an average score of 226.67 points.

Neither Avon nor Binton A were on their best form for their match. Both teams were able to field eight shooters but Avon had two new shooters against the seasoned Binton team. Andy Smith shot 34, Neil Beningfield 32 and four shooters scored 31. With only fours and bulls scoring the team ended on 220 points. Avon had one three in their scores but though the shots were tight, fewer bulls than Binton. Bill Fleming and Steve Ray shot 33s and Alison McMillan and Mark Ellis 32. Avon’s final score was 215 points. Binton’s win also gave them 6 points from 3 matches but with a slightly lower average score of 221.67 puts them in second place in
the League.

Snitterfield shot away from home against Binton B and are proving to be a strong team. Andy Morris got a possible and sons Gareth and Tom shot well scoring 33 and 31 respectively. The team only had two loose shots and won the match with 214 points to Binton’s 200. Joe Powell was the only member of the Binton team to stay out of the threes scoring 30 but their best shot on the night was Chris Green with 31.

Avenue A travelled to Clifford and started well with 33 from James Wilby and a possible from Paul Lowe giving the team an early lead. However Clifford shooters were not disheartened and with steadier shooting than Avenue shooters their efforts gradually paid dividends with 31 from Dave Sibley, and 30 from Trevor and Jay Morris the match ended in a draw 199 points each.
