League Week 7
Whitbread Individual
n Tuesday 14 October, shooters went to the Snitterfield Sports and Social Club for the Whitbread Individual Competition. There were seven preliminary rounds and the first round matches were shot together with four of the eight quarter final rounds. Full details of the results can be found on our website www.sagl.co.uk. The competition will conclude on 9 December 2014.
Last Thursday teams kept their shots tight on the bull when Binton B shot 211, MEB 214, Clifford 217 and Snitterfield 230 to give their best performances this season though Wilmcote who had a bye hold this season’s record with 236 out of a possible 245 points.
Snitterfield shot away against Avenue A. Andy Morris and Gareth Morris both shot 34. Tom Morris, Alan Brookes, Marlena Budzen-Radko and Tim Stephens all shot 33. Their accuracy was too much for the Avenue team despite 34 from Steve Parrack, James Wilby’s 33 and 32 from Paul Lowe and Steve Everett. Snitterfield won with 230 points to 214.
The two teams based at Binton shot against each other. Andy Smith shot his second possible of the season and Michelle Dale shot 34 which contributed to Binton A’s final score of 225 points. Binton B had a few threes on the target. Their best shooter was Angie Powell with 33 points and Steve Hodges shot 32. The team finished on 211 points.
Clifford and MEB lifted their game last week with only three and five threes respectively on the target plate. Clifford’s Ian Perkins and MEB’s Fred Williams both had the highest scores in the match with 33. Jay Morris, Dave Sibley and Tim Onions all shot 32. It proved to be a close match but the home team won with 217 points to MEB’s 214.
Avon had a few loose shots but their experienced shooters did keep out of the threes for scores of 33 Steve Ray, 32 Bill Fleming, Richard Groom and Colin Fulford. The team scoring 211 points after scratching their lowest of eight scores. Avenue B had only six shooters, two of whom kept out of the threes, Richard Mills who scored 30 and Joshua Bridge who shot all fours for 28. With four shooters having scores in the twenty-somethings the team only managed 186 points.
Matches tonight (Thursday) Avenue B vs Clifford; Binton B vs MEB; Snitterfield vs Binton A and Wilmcote vs Avon. Avenue A have a bye.
