Snap Shoot
& League Week 11
he
Snap Shoot Challenge which requires shooters to fire five pellets in one minute
and score a minimum 22 points to take part in the final, took place on Nov 11 at
Binton Social Club. A two minute silence was observed before shooting got
underway, led by our President, Paul Clingan.
Thirteen shooters had between them thirty seven attempts to reach the required
22 points. Andy Smith qualified at his first and only attempt. Jamie Clarke also
qualified at his first attempt but had a second go and managed to hit 5 bulls
scoring a mini possible. An indication of both his accuracy and speed. Gareth
Morris and Paul Clingan both qualified with 23 points and four other shooters
reached the required 22 points. The final round was shot in the order shooters
qualified and a clean bull counted as 5.1 points. Jamie Clarke went first and
set a high standard with 24.2 points which won him the Challenge. Andy Morris
shot four bulls but his last shot was a four and he finished runner up on 24.1
points and third place went to Andy Smith with 23.2 points.
Andy Clingan generously provided food, chips and curry sauce, a very welcome and
generous addition to what was a great night. Ian Powell rustled up some raffle
prizes, and £23.50 was raised for our nominated charity.
League matches were shot on Nov 13 with four more possibles being added to the
tally which now stands at twenty nine. Avenue B with three new shooters this
season were no match for the experienced Binton A team which included a possible
for Will Cemis, his fifth this season and 34 from Chris Reed and Andy Smith.
Binton A won with 226 points.
Binton B were at home to League leaders Wilmcote. Though Benn Chamberlain shot a
season best of 33 the Binton team lost out to Wilmcote whose scores included a
possible from Jamie Clarke, his sixth this season and from Paul Clingan, his
fourth since September. Wilmcote were clear winners with 227 points.
The Clifford target seemed to suit the team from Snitterfield with Andy Morris
shooting his third possible and leading his team to a win with 216 points. MEB
and Avenue A had a close match with Avenue having to rely on an A N Other score
but with 34 from Steve Parrack they came out winners with 208 points to MEB’s
206.
The League will be represented on Thursday by nine shooters who will each have
six shots in this season’s first inter league match against Redditch at Entaco
and on Monday 24 November league representatives will shoot against Evesham for
the Avon Challenge Cup at Wilmcote Sports & Social Club.
