League Week 8

n the match between Wilmcote and Avenue A, there were three generations of shooters. Grandfather, Graham East and step son (father) Michael Clarke, who shot for the home team and son Jamie Clarke, who has joined the struggling Avenue team. Wilmcote who fielded eight shooters, started and ended with 33s shot by Andrea Norris and Paul Clingan respectively. The rest of the team whose scores counted stayed out of the threes for scores of 30 or more. The team finished on 221 points. Avenue’s shooters were more consistent but they are still lacking accuracy. Jamie Clarke, shooting for the first time this season, shot 33. Paul Nixon-Barron and Steve Everett stayed out of the threes for 30s. Dee Green had one loose three but two bulls gave her 29 points. Six shooters and an A N Other scored 206 in total.

All of Avon’s shooters kept their shots tight with 33 from Adam Clarke, Colin Fulford and Steve Ray; 32 from Bill Fleming, Karl and Alison McMillan and 31 from Richard Groom. Mark Ellis shot a respectable 30 but as the eighth shooter his score was dropped. 226 points gave them a clear win over Binton B who also had eight shooters. Steve Hodges shot five bulls and fours for 33. Ian Powell and Ben Chamberlain both shot 30. Chris Green, Joe Powell and Bill Gately shot 29 and Angie Powell 28. Binton’s final score was 208 points.

Both Binton A and MEB had eight shooters. Binton as accurate as ever, had just bulls and fours in their seven counting scores. Will Cemis was top shot with 34. Michelle Dale shot 33 and Alan Brookes, Andy Smith and Gary Hooper all shot 32s. MEB’s best shot was Paul Onions with 32. Kath Williams shot 31. Oscar Thornton and Fred Williams both scored 30 points. With 223 to 207 points Binton came out winners.

The result from the match between Avenue B and Clifford is still outstanding.
