Week 4

von SC maintained their unbeaten run for the fourth consecutive week with a 228 to 221 point win over cup holders Binton A. Though Binton gave a good account of themselves, as usual, with 33s from Michele Dale and Will Cemis, 32s from Chris Reed and John Parrott, 31 from Alan Brookes and 30s from Andy Smith and Neil Beningfield it was not enough. Avon’s Adam Clarke just missed out on his second possible scoring 34. Bill Fleming shot a personal best of 33. Sam Goodman, Steve Ray and Richard Groom also shot 33s. Colin Fulford shot 32 and Alison McMillan 30.

In the match between MEB and Clifford, the home team lifted their game with Oscar Thornton, Kath and Fred Williams all shooting 32. Last week’s problem with the Steyr rifle having been resolved. Paul Onions shot 31, Paul Workman 30 and Tim Onions 29. Veteran shooters struggled somewhat with a few loose shots but after adjusting the score to that of the highest seven scores MEB finished on 213 points. Clifford also had some loose shots but Rachael Brookes and Tony Waters still managed 30. Martin Robinson and new shooter Jay Morris both scored 29. Trevor Morris scored 28 and neither Ian Perkins nor Roy Brookes found the target to their liking. Clifford ended with 200 points.

Avenue B were short of shooters and had to rely on two A N Other scores. The team struggled throughout the match though Richard Mills shot 32 and his wife, Jackie 29 the rest of the had too many loose shots to score highly. They only managed 193 points. Wilmcote had eight shooters but they too had a number of loose shots. The Clingan brothers Andrew and Paul shot 32 and 31 respectively. John Maycock and Michael Clarke 29. Graham East and Andrea Norris both shot 28s. The team ended up on 204 points, their lowest score this season, but enough to win the match.

Avenue A had to cancel their match against Binton B because they did not have enough shooters.
