League Week 11
inton
A lost their chance of retaining the League trophy, the L C Docker Cup, for the
third year running when they lost their match against Avon last Thursday. Binton
have held onto hopes of winning the Cup looking for a win in their return match
against Avon and everything depended on the result. Avon, took an early lead,
with 34 from Adam Clarke who has shown a tremendously improved performance this
season, and who is likely to be a clear winner of the Ray Warnock Memorial
Trophy, seemingly untouchable with his 76% improvement in his shooting. The lead
was consolidated with 33 from Richard Groom and 32 from Sam Goodman. Colin
Fulford kept up the pressure with another 33 and then Steve Ray shot his first
possible of the season. Bill Fleming and Alison McMillan finished off the match
with 32s. Binton called on the assistance of Alan Brookes who was the first to
shoot for the home team, scoring 32. Chris Reed was followed by Andy Smith
shooting 31 and 33 respectively. Gary Hooper shot 32 and both Michelle Dale and
John Parrott scored 31. Will Cemis got his second possible of the season and
Neil Beningfield was the last to shoot scoring 32. The final score Binton 226
Avon 231 – the second highest team score this season.
Clifford were at home to MEB and both teams suffered from a spate of loose shots
but MEB’s Kath Williams who has been shooting for more than 10 years, shot her
first ever possible and was followed in short order by Paul Onions who also shot
a possible. Paul took up shooting again this season after a gap of quite a few
years. Fred Williams shot 31, Tim Onions 30, Oscar Thornton shot 29 as did Paul
Workman who is pleased with the way his new Hammerli rifle is bedding in. Gordon
Spencer and Ray Hodgkins both shot 28. Ian Perkins was Clifford’s best shot with
33, Roy Brookes shot 32, a personal best and Jay Morris 31. Rachael Brookes and
Trevor Morris both shot 30. David Sibley and Martin Robinson both shot 28. Both
teams had eight shooters and after dropping the lowest of their eight scores the
final result was Clifford 212 MEB 217.

Mills got 29 the hard way with a three and two bulls. Jackie Mills and Joshua
Bridge were not on form and Kay Clayton and Andrew Radborne both scored 27s. the
lowest of both team’s eight scores were dropped to give a final score of
Wilmcote 222 Avenue B 202.
Avenue A were able to field seven shooters and for once did not have to rely on
an A N Other score for their match with Binton B. Binton’s early shooters had
some loose shots and low scores which gave Avenue an early lead in the match.
Joe Powell, Angie Powell and Bill Gately all shot 29. Steve Hodges 31 and anchor
man Ben Chamberlain 28. With eight shooters, the lowest score was dropped which
left them with 201. Avenue’s Jamie Clarke shot six bulls and was unfortunate not
to put in seven but 34 was enabled the team to consolidate their lead. Jon
Packard, who has not shot for four weeks shot 30. Dee Green 29 and Jo Everett
struggled with a different site in the gun for 27. 207 points gave Avenue their
first win of the season.
