he match between Wilmcote and Avon saw some excellent shooting with Adam Clarke (Avon) getting the first possible of the season and a career best shot. Avon with 33s from Steve Ray and Richard Groom clocked up a total of 222 points. Wilmcote trailed throughout this match but gave a good account of themselves with 34 from Paul Clingan and career bests shots of 33 and 32 respectively from Michael Clarke and Graham East. Wilmcote finished on 217 points which made this the highest scoring match so far this season.

Clifford were at home to Binton B and took an early lead with Trevor Morris shooting his first possible and a career best from Ian Perkins of 32. Rachael Brookes and Martin Robinson both shot 31. The Powell family kept Binton’s hopes alive with mother Angie shooting 32, father Ian 31 and son Joe 31. The final score was Clifford 215 Binton 209.

Binton A were at home to Avenue B. Consistent as ever, Binton shooters had only bulls and fours on the target in their seven counting scores finishing on 226 points, their highest score this season. Andy Smith still tops the almost but not quite 34 group and was joined this week by Michelle Dale. Alan Dyer found his form with 33. The Avenue team were less consistent with Haydn Taplin shooting 31 and Joshua Bridge shooting 30. Avenue also had eight shooters and after scratching their lowest score finished on 200 points.

Avenue A were visited by MEB. This was a close match despite the fact that Avenue only had five shooters to MEB’s eight. Oscar Thornton (MEB) set the pace with 31 but Paul Nixon-Barron (Avenue) went one better shooting 32. Paul Seabury shot 31, a season best, keeping the pressure on MEB. Paul Onions and his son Tim shot 30 and 29 respectively for MEB which after five shooters put their team 1 point ahead. Fred Williams’ Steyr rifle developed a fault and he had to use an unfamiliar weapon which adversely affected his score. Avenue had to take two A N Other scores and lost the match 199 points to 200.
