League Week 14
von
SC in only their second League season, finished with a clean sweep of wins when
they defeated Avenue A 219 points to 206 points. With 28 points from their 14
games and a league average of 224.36 points they are worthy winners of the L C
Docker Cup. There was an element of sibling rivalry between the Clarke brothers
Adam, shooting for Avon and Jamie, shooting for Avenue both having shot two
possibles this season and looking for their third. However, both shot six bulls
and a four and had to be content with 34 points each. Sam Goodman shot 33,
Alison McMillan, Bill Fleming and Richard Groom all shot 31. Steve Ray was
disappointed with 30 and Karl McMillan shot 29. Though Avenue raised their game
somewhat there was never any doubt about the outcome of this match. Paul Nixon
Barron shot 31, Steve Everett, Marc Anderton and Peter Mole shot 29.
The two teams based at Binton Social Club met each other. The A team having no
threes on the target shot very well with Andy Smith getting his second league
possible in two weeks and six bulls from Chris Reed and Will Cemis for 34
points. Alan Brookes and Michelle Dale both shot 32 and three shooters Gary
Hooper, Neil Beningfield and Alan Dyer all shot 30. The team finished on 227
points which was three above their league average of 224.79 points.
Unfortunately, Binton B had more threes than bulls and with the exception of
Chris Green who shot 31, had scores below 30. The team’s performance seems to
have tailed off over the last month or so and they ended on 195 points somewhat
below their season average.
Wilmcote were visited by Clifford WMC. Both teams had only one three on the
target but Wilmcote had more bulls including seven by Paul Clingan who hit his
second league possible this season and five from Andrea Norris and Andrew
Clingan who both shot 33. Graham East and James Matthews both shot 32 and
Michael Clarke 31 points. John Maycock shot 30 and Derek Powers 29. They had
eight shooters and after dropping the lowest they finished on 226. Clifford’s
Trevor Morris started the team off with 33 points. Roy Brookes equalled his
personal best of 32 and Ian
Perkins also shot 32. After three shooters the teams were all level but
Clifford’s remaining shooters were not as accurate as Wilmcote’s and the game
went in Wilmcote’s favour. Jay Morris and Martin Robinson both shot 30 and Tony
Waters 28. With an A N Other score of 28 Clifford finished on 213 points.
This week the Christmas Shoot takes place at Wilmcote Social Club. The New Year fixtures start with the competition for the Senior Cup on 2 January 14 and the Webley League competition starts on Thursday 9 January 2014.
