SC were at home to MEB and both teams fielded eight shooters. Top shot was
Avon’s Adam Clarke who had a career best of 34. Steve Ray and Alison McMillan
shot 33 and Colin Fulford had a 32. New shooter Mark Ellis was the only member
of the team to have any loose shots but after dropping the lowest of their eight
scores they still came out with 222 points. The MEB team were less accurate with
everyone having at least one loose three except Paul Onions 33 and Fred Williams
31. Kath Williams and Tim Onions both pulled back their threes with bulls for 29
points each. After dropping the lowest of their eight scores MEB were left with
204 points. Avon with four points and a team average of 224.5 top the League.
The match between Binton A and Clifford also saw each team field eight shooters.
Binton as accurate as ever scored only bulls and fours. Clifford shooters had a
few loose threes but though they were less able to ring the bell than Binton,
shooters still had some good scores. Binton’s Andy Smith shot 34, the highest
individual score in this match. Will Cemis and Alan Brookes who previously shot
for Wilmcote and has been shooting in the Redditch League has returned to assist
the team, both shot 32. Chris Reed and Gary Hooper both scored 31. Their total
adjusted score became 219. Clifford’s captain Rachael Brookes and Trevor Morris
both shot 30 but Ian Perkins went one better with 31. Tony Waters scored 29 as
did Roy Brookes but he worked had for his score with two threes and three bulls.
Binton with four points and a team average of 222 are in second place in the
League.
Wilmcote with eight shooters were at home to Binton B who had seven. Paul
Clingan joined the almost but not quite 34 group. John Maycock shot 32, Tim
Stephens 31, Michael Clarke and Derek Powers 30 to contribute to the team’s
final score of 215. Binton’s Mary Kent shot a career best of 31 and three
shooters Angie Powell, Bill Gately and Steve Hodges all shot 30 towards Binton’s
total of 205 points. Wilmcote also have four points but with a team average of
213 are third in the League.
The two teams based at Avenue met with eight shooters for the former Home Guard
team to Avenue’s six. The match started with teams neck and neck but as it
progressed Avenue B showed better accuracy. The highest score was 31 from team
captain Jackie Mills. Haydn Taplin and Joshua Bridge had 30s. Mark Taplin and
Andrew Radborne shot 29. After dropping the lowest of their eight scores they
still came finished on 205 points. Avenue A’s best shot was Paul Seabury with
another 30. Jon Packard, Steve Everett and Dee Green all shot 29. Peter Mole and
Jo Everett were disappointed with their scores with 28 for A N Other, Avenue A
finished on 195 points.
