nly one match was shot in the semi final round of the Thompson Knock Out Cup on 6 March. Wilmcote shot against Avon at Binton Social Club. Both teams had eight shooters it was a close match despite both teams having a smattering of threes. After six and seven shooters the scores were level at 179 then 210. Paul Clingan was last to shoot for Wilmcote and scored 34, unfortunately his last pellet failed to hit the bull. Steve Ray was the last to shoot for Avon and he got all his pellets to ring the bell. Teams finished on 244 and 245 respectively but the lowest of the eight scores was scratched . Wilmcote dropped 26 to give them 218 and Avon dropped 25 to finish on 220. Avon will meet Binton A in the final as they had a free pass to the final when Avenue A had to withdraw from the competition as they could not field a team.
 

Avenue A did manage to get six shooters for their Webley match against Binton A who had eight shooters including a new member of the team, Wayne Harris. Binton were as accurate as ever with a possible from Will Cemis, 34 from Andy Smith and 33 from Chris Reed and Michelle Dale. After dropping the lowest of their eight scores they finished on 227 points. Avenue had little luck on the target. Their best shots came from Jamie Clarke and Marc Anderton who both shot 30. Even with handicap points from Binton and an A N Other score of 28 they only managed 219 points.

Clifford were at home to Avon and both teams had eight shooters. Avon got off to an excellent start with a possible from Adam Clarke, his fourth this season. Clifford kept the pressure on with personal best shots of 34 from Roy Brookes and Ben Huckfield and 33 from Trevor Morris. Avon ended on a high note with a possible from Alison McMillan. Richard Groom shot 34. Eight shooters scored 251 for Clifford and 256 for Avon but the lowest of the eight scores was taken away and Clifford had the comfort of 17 handicap points to come out winners with a final score of 240 to 227.

Wilmcote took an early lead in their match against MEB when Andrea Norris shot 34 Graham East 32 and John Maycock 31. MEB kept their better shooters till last with 33 from Paul Onions, 32 from Tim Onions and 30 from Paul Workman. MEB’s seven shooters scored 209. Wilmcote with an A N Other score of only 26 ended on 208. MEB had no need of the 10 handicap points which gave them a win and 219 points all together.

The results from the match between Avenue B and Binton B were not reported in time for this report.

The final of the 4-A-side Competition will take place tonight at Wilmcote Social Club.
