von SC had a good night’s shooting last \Thursday when the whole team shot only fours and bulls in their match against MEB, who had only six shooters and were less accurate. Colin Fulford and Steve Ray for the home team both shot 33, four shooters shot 31 and Karl McMillan shot 29 to give the team 219 points. MEB’s Kath Williams shot four bulls four 32, Oscar Thornton and Fred Williams shot 31 and Paul Workman though he got three bulls also shot a three but still scored 30. Veteran shooters Gordon Spencer and Ray Hodgkins did not do as well and with an A N Other score of 28 the team had to concede 2 match points to Avon.

Clifford shooters had mixed fortunes on Binton B’s target. Ben Huckfield got four bulls for 32, Trevor Morris three bulls for 31 and Tony Waters two bulls for 30. Five other shooters had problems finding the bull and with loose threes had scores in the 20s. After scratching the lowest of their eight scores, Clifford were left with 200 points. Binton B were without their captain again and though the team shot consistently, no one shot more than 29, though they had only three threes on the target. Clifford won the match by just one point.

Wilmcote took an early lead in their match against Home Guard and built on it as the match progressed. Paul Clingan shot five consecutive bulls but finished on fours for 33. Brian Adshead started and finished on fours but with four bulls scored 32. The team, three of whom shot 30, shot solidly throughout for 211 points at the end. Home Guard had eight shooters but a smattering of threes pulled some shooters scores down into the 20s. Steve Hodges had the highest score with 32 and Joshua Bridge did well getting 31. After dropping the lowest of their eight scores, the team had to be satisfied with 202 points.

The match between Avenue and Binton A was cancelled as Avenue could only muster four shooters so had to forfeit two match points to Binton.

Matches tonight – Binton A vs Wilmcote WMC; Clifford vs Avon SC; Hoe Guard vs Avenue and MEB vs Binton B.
