League

Week 4

inton A maintained their position as league leaders last week when they continued their unbeaten record against Avon Shooting Club. Binton, focused as ever, had 20 bulls and only two threes on the target which gave high scores to Michelle Dale 34, Will Cemis 32 and Andy Smith 31. John Parrott and Alan Dyer both shot 30. Avon shot consistently with only three stray threes Bill Fleming and Richard Groom both shot 31. Steve Ray, still looking for his best form and Alison McMillan shot 30. Both teams had eight shooters and after discounting the lowest of their eight scores the final result was Avon SC 210 Binton A 214 points.

Clifford WMC were at home to Avenue Sports and Social Club who were looking for a change for the better to their lack lustre season so far. Jon Packard started for the visitors and looked to be doing very well with a tight 4 then three bulls but lacking in concentration he had two poor shots before finishing on another bull for 29. Paul Nixon-Barron, and Steve Everett both shot 30 as did Jo Everett who cannot remember how long it has been since she managed to score more than twenty-something! Clifford’s Amanda Pettitt had the highest score for her team and a personal best with 30 and Rachael Brookes and Chris Ward 29. The final score line was Clifford 197 Avenue 199.

The local derby between the two Wilmcote based teams saw Paul Clingan for Wilmcote first up to the target. He looked good for the first possible of the season until his last pellet failed to ring the bell so he had to settle for 34. Brian Adshead shot 32 and Andrew Clingan and Andrea Norris both shot tidy 31s. MEB’s Fred Williams seems to be having a good start to the season with 32 this week. Oscar Thornton shot a personal best and Gordon Spencer a season best of 31. The result MEB 199 Wilmcote 216.

Binton B were at home to Home Guard but the result has not yet been received.
