Week 2 & 3

inton A and Avon Sporting Club both won for the third week running to give them six points at the top of the league table, though Binton are ahead with an average score of 216.

Avon had eight shooters when they visited Wilmcote who had to rely on A N Other. Andrea Norris had another good week for the home team, scoring 32 and Andrew Clingan also did well with 31. For Avon, Bill Fleming shot 31 as did Steve Ray who has not found his best form yet this season and Colin Fulford who made his season debut. Avon won the match with 210 points to Wilmcote’s 207.

Home Guard and Clifford had a close match. Steve Hodges, Haydn Taplin and new shooter Mark Taplin all shot 31 for the home team and for Clifford, Rachael Brookes and new shooter Ian Perkins both shot 32 with 31 from Trevor Morris. Home Guard with 207 points were pipped at the post by Clifford who shot 208 points.

Both Binton A and Binton B fielded eight shooters for their match. Andy Smith started with a four but went on to shoot six bulls for 34. Michelle Dale shot 32 and Chris Reed 31. Chris Green and Joe Powell both shot 33, personal best scores. The final score after disregarding the lowest score on each side was Binton A 216 points, Binton B 210 points.

Avenue continued their poor start to the season when they shot against MEB. Paul Nixon-Barron and Jon Packard both shot 30 but the rest of the home team had too many loose threes and scored only 189. MEB’s Sheila Clarke and Fred Williams both shot 31 which contributed to the final score of 207 points.

Results week 2 – Avon 202 Avenue 190; Binton B 199 Wilmcote 205 (Andrea Norris 33); Clifford WMC 194 Binton A 215 (Will Cemis 33) and MEB 200 Home Guard 207.
