Thompson Cup Final
ndy
Smith notched up another possible last Thursday, when as captain of Binton A, he
led his shooting team to victory in the Thompson Cup for the fourth consecutive
year. The first time this has happened since The Red Lion held the trophy
between 1956/57 and 1959/60.
Smith shot first as usual and put in one bull after another to give an excellent
start to the night’s shooting. The Binton team were on form with 33 from anchor
man Will Cemis, 32s from Chris Reed and Michelle Dale and 31s from Gary Hooper,
John Parrott and Neil Beningfield. Wilmcote’s veteran shooter John Maycock
started with a three but with three bulls scored 30. Graham East, Andrew Clingan
and Andrea Norris also shot 32s. Tim Stephens who has only been able to shoot
infrequently since November shot a season best 31. Paul Clingan started and
finished with two bulls for 33 points. The final score Wilmcote 210 Binton A 225
points.
The last match of this season, a tri-Corner Match between Redditch, Stratford
and Evesham League representatives, will take place at Studley Sports & Social
Club – ENTACO, Eldorado Close, Studley, B80 7HP on 25 April.
