tratford went into the second leg of the inter league match with the Redditch and District Air Rifle League eight points behind. The first leg, shot in October last year, followed Redditch rules with 10 shooters aside firing five pellets each. The return match, held at Wilmcote on Monday 11 February, was shot under Stratford rules with eight shooters each firing seven pellets. Stratford came into their own with 34 from Will Cemis and 33 from Paul Clingan, Andrew Smith and Steve Ray. Overall Cemis came out top shot with 58 points out of a maximum of 60. Redditch shooter Iain Marshall shot 34, a good improvement on his first leg score. Alan Brookes who used to be a member of the Stratford League and Graham Whittington shot 33 each. However with only bulls and fours on the target Stratford won the leg with 259 points to Redditch’s 246 and came out overall winners of the competition with 480 points to 475.

In the fourth week of the Webley Shield Competition, Clifford held on to their top spot beating Avenue 202 to 198 points. The better scores in this match came from Avenue’s Steve Everett and Paul Nixon-Barron who both shot 31 and Clifford’s Rachael Brookes, Trevor Morris, Ian Perkins and Martin Robinson all shot 30.

Avon had eight shooters for their match against Binton A who had only five. Both teams shot well with 33 from Binton’s Andy Smith and Will Cemis and Avon’s Steve Ray. Binton had a handicap of six points but Avon did not need it with 220 points they came out winners. Binton’s five scored 158 and with two A N Other scores of 28 and 27 their total was 213 points.

The two Wilmcote based teams shot against each other. MEB’s Kath Williams shot a personal best of 34, her fifth pellet just failing to ring the bell. Fred Williams shot 33 and Oscar Thornton and Sheila Clarke both shot 31. Wilmcote’s Andrea Norris and Paul Clingan both shot 33. Andrew Clingan shot 31 and Paul Boazman 30. MEB had nine points off Wilmcote but they did not need them to win the match 219 to 207. The first round of the Pairs Competition took place on Tuesday 19 February and results will be available next week. Tonight, shooters whose average league score from at least 2 matches is 30 or less will be eligible to take part in the Norman Dale Competition for the President’s Cup at Wilmcote Sports and Social Club.
