League Report
Week 4
ilmcote
and Binton B both have six points but Wilmcote regained first place in the
league with a match in hand. Wilmcote were the more accurate and consistent team
with five shooters all scoring 31 – Paul Clingan, John Maycock, Andy Morris ,
Andrea Norris and Tim Stephens. Alan Brookes slipped a three but still shot 30
and Paul Boazman shot 29 to give Wilmcote 214 points. Binton B were not at their
best last week with Bill Fleming, Diane Hodges and Ben Chamberlain scoring 30s.
Jon Packard and Chris Green slipped a three to score 28. The Powell twins
mirrored their scores both shooting three fours, a three then three more fours.
Gordon O’nions’ score ended up being scratched which left Binton with 200
points.
MEB turned up at Clifford with just six shooters and had to rely on an A N Other
score. Fred and Kath Williams for MEB kept out of the threes to score 31 but the
rest had some loose shots which brought scores down though Karl McMillan and
Paul Workman still scored 29 and Oscar Thornton 28. Gordon Spencer was
disappointed with his score. Brian Smith was first to the target for Clifford
shooting seven steady fours. Simon Alcock, shooting for the first time, Martin
Robinson and Chris Ward all managed 27 with Trevor Morris and Tony Waters
getting 26. Rachael and Roy Brookes had more than their fair share of threes and
after scratching the lowest of eight scores Clifford finished on 186 to MEB’s
197 points.
Avenue-RBL went to shoot against Home Guard at Tiddington. Steve Everett was
first to shoot and scored 30. Alison McMillan started with a three but went on
to shoot 29. Guy Ganderton and Paul Nixon-Barron were not as accurate as in
previous matches, both hitting a couple of stray threes. To add to Avenue’s
problems, neither Peter Mole nor Jo Everett had much luck finding the bull.
Steve Ray had two fours in the middle of his seven shots and had to be satisfied
with 33 points. Home Guard’s Colin Fulford and Steve Hodges both shot 32 and Sam
Goodman shot 30. Bill Gately, Jackie and Richard Mills all shot 29. Haydn Taplin
and Irene Parsons didn’t have much luck finding the bull. Home Guard took two
points for their victory – 200 points to Avenue-RBL’s 197.
