League
Week 13
he
match between Binton B and Avenue-RBL was low scoring and not typical of what
both teams can do. There were two exceptions with 32 from Bill Fleming and 31
from Alison McMillan. Joe Powell shot three bulls but a three left him with 30
points and Diane Hodges shot two bulls but again a three left her with 29. Chris
Green kept out of the threes but could not find the bull so scored 28. Rob
Johnson and Sam Powell both shot 27 and Gordon O’nions 26 to give Binton B 199
points, their second lowest score this season. For Avenue-RBL, Steve Everett
shot three bulls but a three left him with 30 points. Peter Mole returned to the
team following his holiday in warmer climes and with two bulls scored 29. Guy
Ganderton and Jo Everett both shot par 28s. Dee Green ended poorly and an A N
Other score gave the team a total of 196 points.
Clifford were at home to Wilmcote. Paul Clingan was first to the target and shot
his second possible of the season. Tim Stephens started with three bulls then
fours gave him a score of 31. John Maycock, Andrea Norris and Alan Brookes all
shot 30. Lyn Brookes returned to shooting after a short absence to score par 28
and Paul Boazman shot a below par 26. Trevor Morris 32, Rachael Brookes 30 and
Roy Brookes all turned in personal best scores which might be attributed to the
acquisition of a new team gun. Tony Waters kept out of the threes for 29, Chris
Ward shot steady fours for 28 and 27 was scored by Brian Smith and new shooter
Amanda Pettitt with Martin Robinson taking time to settle into the target,
putting his last pellet into the bull. The team had to discount the lowest of
its eight shooter’s scores to finish on 199, but this was the best score they
have had this season nevertheless, Wilmcote won the match with 210 points.
Home Guard shot against Binton A who were on top form with none of their eight
shooters scoring less than 31 points. Andy Smith started for Binton with 34, his
fifth pellet being the one that let him down. Simon Dale was second to shoot,
scoring 32, then Binton’s next five shooters, Chris Reed, John Parrott, Neil
Bragg, Alan Dyer and Neil Beningfield all shot 31 and anchor man Will Cemis shot
steadily for 33 to give Binton a grand total of 223 after dropping one of their
scores of 31 because they had eight shooters. Home Guard tried hard and kept
their shots tight with just one three on the target but they could not find the
bull as frequently as Binton did. Jackie Mills had the top score, 32 then Steve
Hodges 31. Richard Mills and Derek Powers both scored 30, and Bill Gately 29.
Joshua Bridge and Irene Parsons both shot par 28s to give Home Guard a total of
208 points.
