&
4-A-Side Quarter Finals
he
first round of the Thompson Knock Out Cup was shot on 1 March. Binton A, who
have held the cup for two years, shot against a weakened team of only five
shooters from Wilmcote and not surprisingly won the match 219 points to 209.
Binton B shot against Home Guard who were not on their best form. Both teams
fielded eight shooters and after disregarding the lowest of eight scores, the
final result was Binton 209 Home Guard 204 points. Avenue-RBL shot very well in
their match against this season’s newcomers, Clifford. Avenue achieved their
best score this season in a non-handicap match with 211. Clifford had to settle
for 196 points. The semi finals, Avenue-RBL vs MEB and Binton A vs Binton B will
be shot on 21 March at neutral venues to be advised.
The 4 A-Side Knock Out Competition which is handicapped, saw several close
scoring matches. Four from Home Guard including Colin Fulford who shot 34, met
four from Wilmcote including Andrea Norris who also shot 34. Home Guard’s 129
beat Wilmcote by just one point. MEB A shot against Binton B who gave away four
points. Individual shooters were evenly matched but the handicap gave the match
to MEB with a final score of 124 to 121 points. Jackie Mills, shooting for Home
Guard A, shot a personal best of 34, five above her average. Her excellent
shooting together with the teams twelve point advantage gave the team 130 points
which put the match out of the reach of Binton A who scored 120. Avenue-RBL’s
four shot against a second four put forward by MEB. Avenue gave away three
points but with the team shooting above their average, they still managed
victory with 124 to 121 points. The semi finals will take place on 5 April at
Wilmcote Social Club between Home Guard B vs MEB A and Home Guard A vs Avenue-RBL.
Tonight 15 March, Avenue-RBL meet Binton B; Binton A meet Home Guard and
