B were back on form again last week when they shot at Avenue Sports & Social
Club. Bill Fleming got the team off to a good start with 33 and the last
shooter, Rob Johnson also scored 33. Roy Clarke shot 32, Diane Hodges and Ben
Chamberlain both shot 31. Gordon O’nions scored 29 and Jon Packard 28 to give
Binton a total of 217 points. Avenue-RBL did not shoot as consistently though
Steve Ray shot 33, Alison McMillan still getting used to her new gun shot 30 and
Paul Nixon-Barron shot 29 Guy Ganderton kept out of the threes for 28 and Dee
Green though she started with a three managed one bull for her 28 points but the
rest of the team had more threes than bulls. The team ended on 202 points.
Binton A were at home against eight shooters from Home Guard. Binton shot only
fours and bulls which was reflected in their personal scores, Andy Smith and
Will Cemis 32, Simon Dale, John Parrott and Gary Hooper 31, Chris Reed and Alan
Dyer 30 gave them a total of 217 points. Steve Hodges and Sam Goodman were the
only two Home Guard shooters to keep out of the threes with 32 and 30
respectively. Derek Powers finished on three bulls for 29. Four shooters all
shot 27 and the lowest of eight scores was scratched which gave Home Guard 199
points.
In the final of last week’s matches, Clifford WMC were away again at Wilmcote.
Chris Ward improved on his previous performance with 30 and Tony Waters shot a
personal best with 29. Team mates had some loose threes which kept personal
scores low but the team got their highest score with 188 points. Wilmcote
maintained their unbeaten run with 33 from Paul Clingan, and 32’s from both John
Maycock and Andy Morris. Andrea Norris shot 31 and the other three members of
the team shot par 28 but they came out winners once more with 212 points.
Matches this week Binton B vs. Binton A; Home Guard vs. Wilmcote; MEB vs.
Avenue-RBL and Clifford have a bye.
The Snap Shoot Competition will take place on Monday 17 October at Binton Social
Club. Shooters need to keep their cool here, the rules require 5 shots to be
fired within one minute. The draw for the Whitbread Individual Trophy has been
