League
Week 11
ast
Thursday saw a return to top form from a number of individuals which included
Paul Clingan shooting his first possible of the season and team mate Brian
Adshead also managing a season best score of 34 when Wilmcote shot a high score
of 220 points in their match against MEB who were clearly not on their best form
scoring a below average 201 points. Wilmcote kept their shots tight so that
every shooter kept out of the threes but MEB were not so accurate. Alan Brookes
scored 32, Tim Stephens 31, John Maycock 30 and with 29 from both Andrea Norris
and Paul Boazman. Fred Williams and Richard Groom had the highest scores on the
MEB team with 31, Kath Williams and Karl McMillan both scored 29, Jan Beattie 28
and Oscar Thornton 27. Ray Hodgkins and Paul Workman both had too many threes
for comfort and were disappointed with their scores. Wilmcote maintain their
second placed in the league with this win.
In the match between Binton A and Avenue-RBL, Dee Green shot a season best of 30
and though both teams had stray shots, Binton shooters were the more
consistently accurate which gave them a not unexpected victory 217 to 204. Andy
Smith won Binton’s in house top gun award with his 34 points. Michelle Dale and
John Parrott both shot 32, Chris Reed had one of the stray threes but with four
bulls he still managed 31. Will Cemis shot 31 and Alan Dyer shot 30. Neil Bragg
had Binton’s other stray three but without a bull had to be satisfied with 27.
Steve Ray shot four bulls for 32 and Alison McMillan 31, Guy Ganderton 30 and
Steve Everett 29. Paul Nixon-Barron and Jo Everett shot below par.
Home Guard had eight shooters for their match against Clifford with both teams
shooting more threes than usual. Colin Fulford had the highest score in this
match with 32 and Bill Gately started very well with five bulls but lost
concentration when he finished with two threes for 31. Steve Hodges also scored
31 but without as many bulls and no threes. Derek Powers and Jackie Mills both
shot steady 30s and Richard Mills and Haydn Taplin both shot 28. Clifford’s
Trevor Morris shot 29 and Tony Waters 28 but the rest of the team did not find
the target to their liking. Home Guard won the match 210 to 171 points.
