ome Guard visited Binton B for what turned out to be a close match. Binton
were again reliant on only five shooters and two A N Other scores but still
managed to turn in a respectable score of 201pts with 33 from Mike Perry, 31
from Ben Chamberlain, 30 from Bill Fleming, 29 from Gordon O'nions and 28 from
Roy Clarke. Home Guard's team, includes two young shooters H Taplin and Joshua
Bridge, both under 16 years old who had mixed fortunes on the target. Colin
Fulford had his eye on the bulls eye and gave an excellent display when scoring
his second possible of the season. Bill Gately and Jackie Mills both scored
30pts, Steve Hodges and Richard Mills 29 and Irene Parsons shot a steady run of
fours until her last two pellets slipped into the threes. Home Guard
disregarded the lowest of their eight scores and finished on 203pts.
Binton A were visitors at Wilmcote for their match against MEB. Andy Smith shot
first for Binton and looked good for a possible but was unfortunate
when his last pellet went into the four for 34pts. Four of his team mates, Gary
Hooper, John Parrott, Neil Bragg and Will Cemis all gave stirling support when
they shot 32pts. Alan Dyer shot 29 and Neil Beningfield had a disappointing
score of 27. MEB were unable to equal their performance in previous weeks. Jan
Beattie had a mix of bulls and fours for a score of 32. Karl McMillan had fours
and bulls for 31. Kath Williams, Alison McMillan
and Paul Clingan each shot 30 and veteran shooters Ray Hodgkins and Gordon
Spencer shot 29 and 26. The team totalled 208pts and lost out to Binton's
218pts.
Avenue-RBL fielded eight shooters for their match against Wilmcote and had to
scratch their lowest score. Wilmcote shot consistently with bulls and fours
with only one three on the target all night. Andy Morris shot one of his famed
34's, John Maycock shot 32 and Lyn and Alan Brookes both shot 31. Tim Stephens
and Jon Packard shot 30 Paul Boazman 29 to give Wilmcote 217pts. Most members
of the Avenue-RBL team had a smattering of threes which brought their score down
save for Steve Ray who just missed out on a possible with 34, Steve Everett had
a good night with his score of 33, Louise Price who shot 31 and Jo Everett who
shot a tight seven pellets but only succeeded in hitting the bull once. Guy
Ganderton and Paul Seabury both had bulls and threes which averaged their scores
out to 28 each. Peter Mole got off to a poor start but managed two bulls.
Finally, Sarah Seabury shot a bull as a sighter but then slipped up with her
first pellet. She went on to score mainly fours. The team shot an overall
209pts which was not enough to beat Wilmcote.
