ilmcote, league winners with an average score of 218.2pts and a Webley handicap of 11 for their match against Binton B, took an early but narrow lead which they built upon as the match progressed. Binton’s Ben Chamberlain who has not shot since November returned to the team to shoot 32 which was matched by Chris Green. Gordon O‘nions had a stray three but with three bulls still managed 30 as did Rob Johnson though he kept out of the threes. Bill Fleming and Mike Perry both put in 29 and Joe Powell shot a par 28. Sam Powell was less accurate and his score ended up being disregarded as Binton had eight shooters. A change in shooting order for Wilmcote saw John Maycock shoot first for a steady 30. Andrea Norris had a good night lifting her game to shoot above par, together with Lyn Brookes and Brian Adshead all of whom shot 31. Alan Brookes shot 30 and Tim Stephens 29. Paul Boazman had a stray three which pulled down his only bull and he had to settle for 28 which ended up being scratched as Wilmcote also had eight shooters. Andy Morris shot last and he steadied himself to put away seven bulls for his first Webley possible. This gave Wilmcote a final score of 217 and Binton 210 but with the handicap points, Binton took the match with a final score of 221pts.

In the match between Binton A and Avenue-RBL, the home team had a handicap of 15 points but that did not mean that Avenue-RBL would have an easy time of it as the Binton team are more consistent shooters. Peter Mole and Jo Everett both shot above their personal averages with 30 and 31 respectively. Paul Nixon-Barron shot 31 and both Guy Ganderton and Dee Green shot 28. Louise Price struggled to ring the bell though all but one of her shots was tight and had to settle for 27. Steve Ray was looking good for a second possible until his fifth pellet failed to ring the bull, leaving a small mark in the four but with bulls on his final two shots he scored 34 which took Avenue’s score to 210 which was four above their league average after disregarding the lowest of their eight scores. With the handicap from Binton, Avenue won the match 225 to 221pts to keep them at the top of the Webley League.

The detailed scores in the match between Home Guard and MEB are not available but the match was won by MEB.

This week, 27 shooters qualify for entry in the Presidents Cup, sometimes referred to as the Norman Dale Cup which is being held at Wilmcote Sports & Social Club. Shooters please note the prompt 8.30pm start.
