Week 10

he final matches in the Webley Shield League Competition were shot last Thursday. Binton A with a handicap of 6 were at home to MEB. Paul Clingan shot 34 and led his team to victory. He was ably supported by Fred Williams 33, 32's from Richard Groom and Kath Williams, 31's from Alison McMillan and Jan Beattie and a steady 29 from Ray Hodgkins. Binton put up a hard fight with 34 from Michelle Dale and scores of 30 or more from the rest of the team. Neil Beningfield shot 33 and three shooters, Gary Hooper, Simon Dale and Will Cemis all shot 32. John Parrott shot 31 and Alan Dyer 30. They clawed two points back from MEB but it was not enough to win the match. The final score line MEB 228 and Binton A 224.

Home Guard fielding a team of eight shooters, gave Binton B who relied on an A N Other score, just one point in their match. Binton B with individual scores of 31 from Mike Perry and Ben Chamberlain and 30's from Bill Fleming, Roy Clarke, Gordon O'nions and Rob Johnson generally shot above their average to score 209 points. Home Guard shooters were on the whole less accurate with the exception of Steve Hodges 32, Sam Goodman and Derek Powers 31. Richard Mills shot 30 and Bill Gately had 29 but Jackie Mills, Irene Parsons and Joshua Bridges had too many threes on the score board. They finished on 207 points.

Avenue-RBL went to Wilmcote who shot with a handicap of 7 points. Steve Ray was the last to shoot and finished the season in style with his fifth possible this season which put the match beyond Wilmcote's reach. Jo Everett began the match with 30 and Steve Everett shot 28. Paul Nixon Barron shot a personal and season best of 33 and Paul Seabury match his best performance when he scored 31. Guy Ganderton shot 29 and Dee Green's 26 brought the final score to 219 points. Andy Morris was first to shoot for Wilmcote and maintained his run of 34's. He was followed by Sheila Clarke who shot a personal and season best of 33. With 32 from Jon Packard, Brian Adshead's 30 together with 29 from both John Maycock and Tim Stephens and 26 from Paul Boazman the team finished on 213 points.

Tonight the final match of the season takes place when Binton A shoot against MEB in the Thompson Cup final.
