League - Week 8

ast Thursday, in the match between Avenue-RBL and Wilmcote, Steve Ray shot his third possible of the season putting him at the top of the Individual Averages Table with 33.86 points, just ahead of Paul Clingan who in the match between MEB and Binton A, shot his second possible of the season for an average of 33.83 points. In third place stands Andy Morris with an average of 33.63 points - not much between them.

Andy Morris shooting his usual 34 put Wilmcote into an early lead at Avenue Sports & Social Club. Lyn Brookes 28 and Sheila Clarke 31 added to the lead. John Maycock and Tim Stephens both slipped a three but ended with scores of 29. Alan Brookes shot 33 and Jon Packard 30 both kept out of the threes. Last to shoot was Paul Boazman who with 29 brought the team's total score to 243 but having eight shooters, the lowest score was dropped to give them 215 points. The target was particularly tight and Louise Price 28 who was first to shoot for Avenue-RBL, followed by Paul Nixon-Barron 30, Steve Everett 28 and Paul Seabury 29 were unlucky that some of their fours failed to ring the bell. Jo Everett slipped a three but still managed 29. Guy Ganderton matched his personal best score of 32. Peter Mole started with a bull but could not repeat this scoring 27. Steve Ray's third possible of the season gave the team a total of 211 after dropping the lowest score.

Binton A continued their unbeaten run of matches when they shot against MEB at Wilmcote Club. Andy Smith began the shooting scoring 32. Team mate Simon Dale started with a bull, then a four followed by five more bulls for 34points. Gary Hooper, Michelle Dale and Neil Bragg all shot 32 points. Then Will Cemis scored 31. John Parrott and Alan Dyer both scored 30. For the MEB team, Paul Clingan started with a possible; Kath Williams shot 31 the rest of the team Alison and Karl McMillan, Jan Beattie, Richard Groom and Ray Hodgkins all scored 29 and Fred Williams shot 28. Both teams fielded eight shooters and after discounting the lowest score from each side, the final result was MEB 211 points and Binton A 223.

The results for the match between Binton B and Home Guard did not make the deadline and the results of the first round of the Whitbread Individual Trophy which was shot at the Home Guard Club, Tiddington last Tuesday will be reported next week.

Tonight (Thus 26 Nov) the competition for the Senior Shield will take place at the Home Guard Club, Tiddington. The competitions for the Ladies Rose Bowl and the Youth Cup will be shot separately on different dates..
