4 of the League competition saw Home Guard take on Binton A at Tiddington, and a
local derby where Wilmcote took on the MEB team. The match between Binton B and
Avenue-RBL was postponed until a later date.
Michelle Dale shot superbly to claim her first possible of the season for Binton
A. Michelle was supported by husband Simon and Gary Hooper with 32 a-piece, with
Andy Smith, John Parrott, Alan Dyer and Neil Beningfield all chipping in with
31. Will Cemis scored 29. Binton A’s total for the night was a season’s best of
223. Home Guard also fielded a full team and had good scores from Colin Fulford,
Steve Hodges and Sam Goodman, all shooting steady 32’s. Richard Mills 29, Irene
Parsons 28, Bill Gately 27, Ben Goodman 27 and Joshua Bridge 21 completed the
line up bringing Home Guard’s total to 207, giving Binton A their fourth win of
the season.
The battle of the two Wilmcote based teams was a closer affair. Paul Clingan
began for the MEB with a solid 34, just missing out on another possible. Fred
Williams scored 32 with Alison McMillan, Jan Beattie and Kath Williams all
scoring 31. Richard Groom and Ray Hodgkins scored 29, and finally Gordon Spencer
scored 27, bringing MEB’s total score to 217, again a season’s best. Wilmcote
responded with scores of 32 from captain Andy Morris and John Maycock. Alan
Brookes, Tim Stephens and Brian Adshead all shot 31 with Sheila Clarke scoring a
steady 30. Lyn Brookes 27 and Paul Boazman 28 completed the line up for Wilmcote
bringing their total to 215. MEB won the match by 2 shots bringing their league
table points level with Wilmcote.
Presently, Binton A top the league table with 8 pts, Wilmcote and MEB have 6pts,
Home Guard have 2pts and Binton B and Avenue-RBL have yet to score.
Tonight (15 October) sees the first round of the Pairs Competition to be held at
Wilmcote Social Club, and Tuesday 20th October sees the Snap Shoot Competition
over at Binton Social Club. All shooters should be reminded that the cut-off
time for competition entry is now 8:30pm.
