Week 8
venue-RBL
v Wilmcote - Undefeated Wilmcote continued their challenge for the top of the
league table when Andy Morris took Wilmcote into a scorching lead over Avenue-RBL,
shooting his first possible of the season. Andy's accuracy and concentration
unfortunately did not rub off onto Avenue's Dennis Ganderton whose shooting was
completely flawed scoring only 18pts from his seven pellets. Jack Shipton made a
respectable debut appearance for Wilmcote shooting 26. Paul Nixon-Barron for
Avenue-RBL started with a three but then settled down to go to score 30 as did
Guy Ganderton . This was matched by Lyn Brookes. Steve Everett had some tight
fours and was unlucky to have the bell ring just once for 29. John Maycock and
Gareth Morris both managed three bulls for 31pts. Avenue-RBL's Peter Mole
continues to show improvement in his shooting and although he started with a
loose pellet he went on to shoot four fours then a couple of threes for 24. Alan
Brookes shot bulls and fours for 32. Jo Everett and Dee Green both shot 29 to
give Avenue- RBL one of the team's lowest totals this season 189. Wilmcote's
anchormen, Paul Boazman shot a string of fours but with two threes in the middle
scored 26 and Trev Skinner was doing well with three bulls and fours until his
last pellet slipped into the threes for 30. Wilmcote dropped their lowest score
to finish on 215pts.
Guards v Binton A - Undefeated Binton A maintained their position at the top of
the league table when they defeated a much improved performance from Guards. The
home team seemed to be on a mission with their first four shooters all scoring
31. Doug Dampier equaled his highest score; Lisa Edwards achieved her highest
score on record; new shooter Wendy Taplin in her 4th match also shot her best so
far and Ruth Dampier showing the accuracy which won her the Norman Dale Cup last
year. Binton A didn't get off to a good start with Mark Oakey's 29 and Phil
Heming's 28. Andy Smith and Simon Dale stopped the rot with their scores of 32.
They were followed by Michelle Dale who with 34 was unlucky not to get a
possible and John Parrott who shot his highest score ever, when his first 5
pellets rang the bell for 33 saving the day. Chris Green slipped a three for 28
and Fran Westwood shot 29 to give the Guards a total of 208pts. Binton's
anchorman Neil Beningfield shot a steady 31 and Jeff Smith shot as eighth man.
Binton finished on 219 just above the team's average score.
Binton B v Home Guard - awaiting result.
Matches for this week (6 Nov) Binton A v MEB; Knights v Avenue-RBL, Wilmcote v
Binton B. Home Guard have a bye. The Whitbread Individual Competition will be
