first leg of the Avon Challenge, the annual two leg competition between the
Evesham and Stratford air gun leagues, was held at Binton Social Club on Monday
27th October. The tight target and shorter shooting distance seemed to favour
the home team. Highest score for the evening 34, was Jamie Beadle who was making
his debut for Evesham. Other members of the Evesham team were Amy Lewis 33, John
Richards, J Lewis and I Harwood who all shot 32, Craig Roberts 31, R Pitcher 30
and Paul Skrypzcuk who shot 29. Paul Clingan, Stratford's Captain, made his team
selection mainly from the league's top two teams, Binton A and Wilmcote but it
has to be said the team overall did not shoot as well as they do in our own
league. Paul Clingan, Andy Smith and Alan Brookes
all shot 32, Andy Morris, famed for his 34's, Gary Hooper and Gareth Morris each
shot 31, Michelle Dale 30 and Steve Hodges 28. The total score was Stratford 247
Evesham 253. The second leg will be played on Mon 26 January 2009.
